OUR NATURAL AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT
1. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The sustainble development uses in a responsible way the natural resources without wasting them, so it produces a balance between the human activity and the enviroment impact.
This is very important, in order to improve our environment. For example if we spend too much wood from the trees, animals will become extinct.
2. REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE
Reduce means that we have to minimize the use of things which pollute our environment. Try to waste and use less things, just what is necessary.
Reuse means to use again. We have to use things as many times as we can, not to throw them to the bin when we only use them once. The more things we can reuse, the less energy is spent marking new ones.
Recycle means to throw the same materials together in the same containers in order to be able to clean them and prepare them to be used again.
3. RENEWABLE AND NON RENEWABLES ENERGIES
Renewable energies are the energies that won't run out, like sunlight, water or wind. They are clean and they are energies that we can use as many times as we want.
Non - renewable energies are the ones that will run out, like oil, natural gas, coal,...
4. DIFFERENT KINDS OF ENERGY
Energy can manifest in different ways. In form of movement, heat, electricity, electromagnetic, hydraulic radiation, ...
They are many types of energies, but the most important ones are: chemical, nuclear, thermal or calorific, mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic, hydraulic, wind,...
5. TIPES OF WASTES AND RESIDUES
All the human activities produce a lot of wastw and residues: house hold. agriculture, ... However the waste amount and nature is very different depending on the origin.
There are many types of waste that make our planet too ugly.
There are different kinds of containers for the rubbish (trash bins,...).
They are in different colours:
GREEN/GREY for organic waste.
BLUE for paper and cardboard.
YELLOW for plastic and metal.
LIGHT GREEN for glass.
6. ECOSYSTEM
They are everywhere, this means that everything in it is linked to everything else.
They can be as big as a planet or as small as a drop of water. They show how things live together and include plants, animals, soil, birds, water, people, fish and all the tiny life forms we can't see (microorganisms). When ecosystems are working well we say they are sustainable.
7. THE ENVIRONMENT
It is used to describe the world we live in, the sky we can see above us, the air we can breath, the land you walk on, the water we use to drink, wash or swim, all the plants, trees and animals we can see, use and love, the rocks, ...
All of them are suffering from things humans do on Earth. That is not good for anybody. When we pollute and change the life conditions of all the these elements and treat them badly, it affect a lot of things on Earth: pollution, temperature, global warming, climate change,...
